Methodology

Six checks.
One auditable score.

Every Previo report is the product of six independent screening passes against primary-source registries, adverse media, and known data breaches — scored, weighted, and routed through human review when it matters.

The pipeline

Each check is independent, sourced, and dated. Findings are cross-referenced in a second pass before the final score is assigned.

01

Sanctions & watchlists

Name and identity matched against consolidated sanctions lists — OFSI, OFAC, EU, UN, and OpenSanctions' aggregated corpus. Nationality and country of employment are used to disambiguate common-name collisions.

02

Adverse media

Targeted web search across mainstream journalism. Deduplicated by event, dated by underlying incident (not article publication), and cross-jurisdiction. Findings carry a severity grade and the source URL remains clickable in the report.

03

Corporate registry

Director and officer history from UK Companies House and Denmark's CVR (Erhvervsstyrelsen authoritative feed). We flag disqualifications, dissolutions, strike-offs, and rapid succession of failed companies.

04

Forum intelligence

Reddit and similar open forums, classified as verified leads or unverified context. Leads that overlap with adverse media findings are marked as cross-source corroboration; uncorroborated leads are surfaced but never drive the score alone.

Data breaches

Have I Been Pwned lookup on the candidate's professional email. Not scored as misconduct — surfaced as a security hygiene signal for roles where credential reuse is a material risk.

Property & associates

Where available, property registry hits and associated people drawn from public filings. Used for context and to trigger Phase 2 cross-reference screening on spouses, business partners, and family members — the most common vector for nominee structures and hidden risk.

Scoring

From 0 to 100. Explained at every point.

Every candidate begins at 100. Deductions are applied for each finding, weighted by severity and evidence strength. Every deduction is itemised in the final report — you can trace the score back to the exact finding and source.

The Previo Score is intended to support, not replace, your hiring judgement. The report is the product. The number is the shorthand.

80–100
Clear
No material findings. Safe to proceed against your standard hiring process.
50–79
Caution
Findings warrant a human conversation with the candidate before a decision. Context often matters.
0–49
Do not proceed
Disqualifying findings. Reserved for sanctions matches, serious regulatory action, or a pattern of misconduct incompatible with the role.
Human review

A human reads every Caution and every Do-Not-Proceed.

Automated screening is fast but blunt. For any report that lands outside Clear, a Previo analyst reviews the findings, sanity-checks the sources, and writes reviewer notes that travel with the report. Clear results are released automatically.

This is the part competitors either skip or charge enterprise prices for. It's the part we consider non-negotiable.

Data & compliance

Built on primary sources. Handled under GDPR.

We process only what the candidate consents to share plus what is already publicly available. Every finding points back to its source so the candidate can exercise their right to dispute. Retention matches your regulatory obligations — typically six years, then deleted.

Processing is conducted under UK GDPR / EU GDPR Article 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest — with a Legitimate Interests Assessment available on request.
